My sister Nicole…

September.15.2011 | Misc, My Life

You guys are sisters…really?!  That’s usually the first thing people say when they see my sister Nicole and I together…which we don’t actually get to hear that often because Nicole lives in Miami and I live here (CA).  However, for the past week, Nicole was here everyday on vacation and it was wonderful!!  You see, Nicole and I have never really gotten to spend that much time together through out our lives.  She was born in Miami when I was 7 (we have different moms) and we didn’t actually get to meet until SHE was 7.

Our first meeting was…awkward.  It’s like “Hey, meet your sister!”  Weird initially but definitely not weird now…more like “my sister is so much like me, yet not” it’s ridiculous.  Some of the personality traits we share : we’re talkative in certain situations but naturally introverted, she likes personal time to “think” as do I, we both LOVE food and have a very hard time turning away carbs, she is girly girl and can appreciate a fine pair of Louboutins (me too!), she is a magnet for men who all want to date her…obviously this is true for me too…NOT…LOL!  There’s a lot more but I’ll keep that between Nicki and I…it’s a sister thing ;-)

Obviously when Nicole told me she was coming for a visit, the first thing I said was “we need to do a photo shoot!”.  Nicole was all “blah, I’m feeling fluffy right now but maybe we could do some head shots…I need a pic for my Linkedin”.  What was supposed to be head shots turned into an afternoon of “omg, turn your head this way…now smile…the light is amazing in your hair…put on this hat, look that way”…lol…to say the least, we had a blast!  I can’t get over how gorgeous my sister is…not only is she gorgeous, but she is also fun, feisty, driven, and REALLY smart…oh, and an amazing writer!  You should check out her blog here: Nicole K Cunningham

My sis left on Tuesday and it’s been kind of a bummer…the only thing making me feel a little better is that there are already plans to see each other again…but this time in Miami!  Can’t wait little sis!  Here are just a few of my favs…trust me…there’s a lot more but I had to condense it…otherwise there would be like a hundred pics!

Just for fun…here is a pic of me and Nicole when I was 16 and she was 9.  I actually think we look a lot a like in this pic!  She is just tanner than me…still is…damn!

Nicole has a beautiful smile…wouldn’t you agree? :-)

Love this shot of my sis!  The light shining through her hair is magical…and so are her highlights!  I love her hair…I WANT  her hair!

Seriously?!  Shut the front door…I actually don’t like that saying at all and prefer the “real” saying but I will abstain since there might be children reading my blog :-)

I’m deeply jealous of my sister’s long beautiful legs!  She claimed that she was feeling fluffy…the only thing fluffy about Nicole is her hair…

This is like my most favorite portrait I’ve taken…not only of my sis but EVER!  The light, the hat, her eyes… L-O-V-E!

Beautiful afternoon light…

I think my sister is the perfect combination of cute & sexy :-)

OMG….I love everything about this dress!  I’d go out and buy it this very second but I’m a realist…this dress would not look this good on me…whatevs…I’m over it..

Love!!!

Nicole…if you were not my sister I would totally dislike you…I mean that in the nicest possible way ;-)

Last shot of the day…the best for last :-)

*warning…shameless post below*

Okay…so if you’ve been a longtime follower of my blog or follow me on Twitter or Facebook, this probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to you…I love New Kids on the Block aka NKOTB!!!  Back in 2008, I did a blog post after going to their reunion concert at the Staples Center.  As much as I had hoped that they would continue to tour and keep it going, I had my doubts.  After all they all had their own lives now and were grown men with other careers outside of being a part of NKOTB. However, we are in June 2011 and they have kept it going…let me rephrase…they and their fans (including me) have kept it going!  Once they were back…how could we ever say goodbye to them!  It has been so much fun reliving me childhood years and I can only hope they keep having fun with this ongoing reunion because I’m having an awesome time!

When they announced they were launching a tour with the Backstreet Boys, I said to myself “I have to go and I have to meet them!”.  You ask “How do you plan on meeting them?”  Well…there is this awesome company called I Love All Access that offers special tickets that allow you to not only go to the concert and get awesome seats but also gives you the opportunity to meet the artist(s).  Pretty cool right?  So, after regretting not going this route the last tour (of which I attended 3 concerts…sounds like a lot but there are super die hard fans who go to dozens…yes I said dozens!)

I had been waiting patiently for July 1, 2011 to arrive and it finally did…I couldn’t believe it!  I was going to be meeting Joe McIntyre…the boy I had dreamed of marrying when I was 10.  I just couldn’t even imagine!  How often do dreams come true?  Not often at all…at least not for me!  Of course I was excited to meet all of them…after all, now that I was a grown woman, I was still a “Joe” girl with strong “Donnie” tendencies :-)  Really though, I loved them all and was elated to be getting the chance to meet them!

So the moment arrives and there I was standing behind the curtain…just moments before I was about to come face to face with them.  I reminded myself to take it all in and cherish every moment.  We walk through the curtain and the first person I see is Danny I approach to give him a hug and tell him how nice it is to meet him…he says “Nice meeting you too!  You look lovely tonight…”…sigghh….seriously?  Danny Wood just told me that I looked lovely?  My heart just melted :-)  Then I walked over to Jon and hugged him…he is very handsome and sweet.  I then met Jordan…sweet and shy.  Then Donnie!  It all was happening so fast…we had to line up for a picture, of course Joe chose to stand at the end which meant I would look wide and stretched out because they were using a super wide angle lens and if you know anything about lenses, you know wide angles tend to distort on both ends of the picture.  LOL…I know…here I was standing next to Joe McIntyre and I was thinking about camera techy stuff!!!

Anyhow, here is the pic below…if can see, me and Joe look bigger than Donnie but I promise you, Donnie is taller than Joe & Me…darn those wide angle lenses!!!

A closer pic :-)  We make a cute couple but I think Doug and I make a cuter couple together.  Joe also looks better with his wife…see…everything works out the way it’s supposed to :-P

Now, time to say goodbye!  I gave each of them a hug again and try to take it all in…I hugged Donnie last and said “I love you…I love you”…I don’t remember what he said…couldn’t have been that great because I would have remembered!  LOL…and there you have it.  It was the coolest experience ever and definitely want to do it again…lol…I thought once would be enough but the other girls I was with told me it was addicting…and they were right!  Can’t wait till next time ;-)

Now for some pics from the concert!  Note: I’m not a huge fan of BSB but included pics for those people that are ;-)  Don’t get me wrong though…I thoroughly enjoyed seeing BSB too…forgot how many of their songs I liked!  Hope you guys enjoy!!!

All 9 guys as they came out together!

NKOTB took over for the first portion…

Joe…still gets me with those baby blues!

For all the Jordan girls ;-)

Nick…although NSYNC was my fav back in the day I always though Nick Carter was cute…still is :-)

Back to the New Kids…if you look at their dance moves, you can obviously see they are singing “The Right Stuff”!

Sigh…one of my favorite moments where they sing their top ballads!

I think his name is Brian Littrell..?

This pic should explain why I have Donnie tendencies…actually, to be completely honest…I’m  now a Donnie girl with Joe tendencies…and Danny tendencies because of his sweet comment to me :-)

In all honesty…I love Donnie not because of his hot bod ;-)  It’s because he shows so much love to his fans and makes them feel appreciated…I love that about him!  If you follow him on Twitter, you know what I mean.  All the other guys do too but Donnie goes above and beyond!  If you want to follow any of them, here you go:

Donnie Wahlberg

Danny Wood

Joe McIntyre

Jordan Knight

Jonathan Knight

Just one more pic of Donnie :-)

So many fans there!

Jordan singing “I’ll Be Loving You”…sigh….to be 12 again!

So, if you didn’t know, Kevin from BSB quit the group a few years ago and decided to make a surprise appearance for a couple of songs at the concert…OMG…the place went absolutely insane when he appeared!

All nine guys for the finale!

Right after the concert, Donnie had an after party and it was SOOOO awesome!  Although I already met him, it was super exciting to see him this close and in such an intimate environment!  Here is actual video from my iphone…I love technology!

I never had the chance to assist to an concert, it would be my biggest dream. This year I nearly went to new york, as I have a friend living there, but I could not get my visa on time because there are more than 100 days of waiting. I don`t give up my dream. I hope I could someday see them in a concert and if I can meet them as you did, I imagine I would be the glory! Thanks again to share your experience, photos an videos!!! Pd. Sorry for my english!!!
