1. Do we have to do an engagement session?
Hahahaha..good question! The answer is YES! Just kidding. No, you do not have to do one, but I would strongly suggest doing so. I offer a complimentary engagement session in all of my packages because it’s great way for all of us to get to know each other. In addition, it will help both of you feel more comfortable in front of the camera so that on the wedding day, you’re at ease and all you have to think about is how happy you are to be married to the love of your life.
2. Do you have an assistant?
Yes! I always have an assistant/second shooter with me at all weddings. While I’ll be capturing the bride getting ready, my assistant will capture the groom getting ready. Throughout the day, both me and my assistant will be shooting simultaneously to capture different moments, angles, and perspectives of your wedding day.
3. Why do some couples decide to see each other before the ceremony?
This trend seems to be happening more and more these days. While I personally didn’t do this for my own wedding, sometimes I wish I did! My husband and I did our pictures together during our cocktail hour. I remember the day very vividly. My husband was checking his watch every 10 minutes making sure that we weren’t going to be late for our grand entrance. All I could think about was how I wish I had more time to take pictures and just hoped that everything would turn out okay. While all the pictures turned out beautifully, I still to this day wish I had more time because there were pictures that I really wanted and we just didn’t have enough time for. While seeing each other before the ceremony is not for everyone, for those that DO choose to see each other beforehand, are always glad they did. This way, they can spend their cocktail hour with their friends and family instead of frantically checking their watch to make sure they aren’t late for their grand entrance
4. Do you have backup equipment?
OF COURSE I DO! I have two cameras, a Canon 5d and Canon 5d Mark II, 2 Canon 580ex flashes, and multiple Canon lens to choose from to ensure complete uninterrupted coverage of your wedding day.
5. Do you travel?
YES! While most of the weddings I shoot are in Southern California, I have traveled for weddings within the U.S. and other countries such as Mexico and Jamaica. If you are interested in having me shoot your non-California wedding, email me and I’ll send you information!
6. Can I give you a must take list of all the images I want captured?
If there are a couple of shots that you really want, by all means let me know and I’d be more than happy to capture them for you! However, I generally work best when I’m given the freedom to capture the moments of your wedding day as they happen. This way, I can focus 100on what’s happening right at that moment vs. checking off a list to make sure I got everything. Make sense?
7. Do you do family formals?
Of course! This is a necessary part of the day that I am more than happy to capture. I can’t imagine not having any pictures of my family on my wedding day! What I did to make the family picture time go as quickly as possible was make a list of each “group” that I wanted and had one of my family members gather everyone up as my photographer was capturing one group. It’s best to limit the groups to immediate family only so that if you are taking your formal pictures during the cocktail hour, you’re not spending half the time on family pictures alone.
8. I want to book you for my wedding! How do I do that?
Awesome! Send me your information through my contact form and I’ll email you back with my package information. From there, we’ll set up a meeting so you can see more of my work and see the different types of wedding albums I offer. Once you’ve made your decision that you’d like me to be your wedding photographer, let me know so that I can send you a contract. You’ll send back the contract along with the deposit to me. Once I receive both, the date is officially yours!
